Fans of the hit series ‘Longmire’ no doubt remember the final episode of season 6. Its poignant ending left many viewers wondering, is Netflix going to have a season 7 of Longmire? Rumors have been swirling about a possible return. But, alas, we are here to report that the whispers aren’t true. Our beloved show, Longmire, won’t be getting a seventh season on Netflix.
We all know how ‘Longmire’ premiered on A&E in 2012 and ran there for three seasons. This contemporary western crime thriller quickly built a loyal following. But after three seasons, the powers that be at A&E canceled our favorite show. Yet, because of its powerful fan base and gripping storyline, Netflix picked it up. And so, the saga of Walt Longmire, tireless Wyoming sheriff, continued for three more memorable seasons on Netflix.
Regrettably, in 2017 Netflix aired what they declared was the final season of Longmire. Still, fans held hope that Netflix would cave to their demands for another season. Now a fake release date of November 12th, 2021, is making the rounds on sites such as WhenNetflix.com. But we’re here to tell you that it’s not the real deal. This misinformation misleads countless hopeful followers into believing in the arrival of a seventh season. We admit it’s a crushing disappointment for many. And so, in the face of such disappointment, we feel it’s our duty to set the record straight.
The deceit doesn’t end there, however. This fake site suggests that the mythical season 7 of Longmire would become available globally. This is rather impossible, given that Netflix only holds the license for the show in three regions. These regions are Australia, Canada, and the United States of America.
Unfortunately, there’s no regulator of such fake information. The offending website has seen a surge in traffic in recent months. It seems any attempt to stop the spread of this fake news encounters hurdles due to the site’s lack of accountability. A measly Gmail address on the about page represents the only point of contact, and it predictably yields no response.
It’s disappointing news, we know, but we’re not completely without hope! There’s still the possibility of future installments or spin-offs from the Longmire universe. Until then, we can only hold onto the rich memories of the charismatic Longmire and his incomparable team. And enjoy the six seasons that did make it to our screens. Remember, even though ‘Longmire’ might not be returning for a seventh season on Netflix, we still have six great seasons to watch and rewatch whenever we wish.
